Simon Hopkinson / Jared Harding
Owners of Electric Bear
Electric Bear was founded in 2011 by producer and engineer Simon ‘Si’ Hopkinson, who began building the studio from scratch inside a former warehouse. Jared Harding joined soon after in the early stages, and together they developed Electric Bear into a dedicated recording facility for artists and bands. Since then, it has grown into a trusted studio working with clients across the UK and internationally, helping them develop their sound and bring their releases to life.
Over the years, Electric Bear has continually evolved alongside the artists it works with. A full redevelopment in 2022 transformed the studios with redesigned acoustic environments, upgraded infrastructure and improved facilities throughout, while the purchase of the building in 2026 secured a permanent home for its future.
Alongside music recording and production, the studio supports a wide range of recording projects including voiceover, podcast production, and creative content, often collaborating with a wider network of trusted visual and production partners to deliver complete projects.
Electric Bear’s work has contributed to charting releases and millions of streams, with credits including The Publics, Death of The High Street, Bethany Grace, Katie London, Ferocious Dog, Nathan Grisdale, EJ Kitto, and Bailey McConnell, among many others. Simon has also worked professionally beyond the studio, including touring with Lola Young, reflecting Electric Bear’s active role within the wider music industry.
Beyond its studio work, Simon and Jared contribute to the development of music and creative industries through involvement with organisations including Business Making a Difference, the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Music Partnership Board, the Mansfield Wider Place Board, Whitwell Brass Band, and the Music Producers Guild, supporting opportunities for the next generation of artists and creators.
